Art direction and illustrations

The Australian

The artworks below have been illustrated and art directed by Emilia Tortorella. These are a selection of works that have been published in The Australian between 2023 – 2025. They have been digitally painted in Procreate with a mixture of self-designed brushes and digital brushes that have been made by other artists. Her works include hand made elements and textures.

The themes that are focused on within her work are those of loss, nature, education, memory and the circle of life. These themes are difficult to express as splash art at the top of a story, so they are best expressed through metaphorical artwork.
